  12. V-Twins Refund Policy WHY WE DON'T HAVE DEMOS ANYMORE! We do not have demos for all our collections and we can not offer Demo Huds for logistics and technical reasons. Offering demos is also a very time consuming process that very few customers use and it has become eventually a waste of our time. On the other hand, fitmesh items for brands such as Belleza o Maitreya etc work 95% of the times with standard shapes, shapes with reasonable numbers. So there is actually no important reason to try a demo for fitting purposes. The demo, on the other hand, is useful to see how it looks on your avatar, to inspect the quality and the details of the item. For that, we are sorry, but we try to offer high quality and detailed pictures. A recent study among our customers valued the demos, but they didn't like their simplicity of a demo because it was not a good reference to value the quality of the real item. The study also proved that it was our brand and good experience and service from V-Twins, and not the demos, what ultimately convinced them to purchase the outfit. Not the demo itself, the demo only convinced a 50% of customers. With so few people using the demos, and only half of them convinced by the demos, we prefer to be pragmatic and offering you a 48 hour refund policy instead if you are not convinced with your purchase. REFUND PHILOSOPHY Shop with confidence. If you are not satisfied with the purchase, and you think a demo could have prevented you from buying the outfit, I will gladly refund your purchase. ITEMS THAT APPLY The limited 48 hours refund policy applies to: Mesh & Fitmesh items sold on marketplace, reseller boards & Main Store ( outfits ) This policy DOES NOT apply to fitmesh Boots, Outlet Store products such as boots, and collections using Omega Appliers. REFUND POLICY Our policy refund is based on good faith. If you are a new customer and purchase one of our collection and you honestly believe it doesn't have the quality you were expecting, we offer you a 48 hour return policy. This means we will refund your purchase and you can keep the item or delete it from your inventory. The policy is meant not to be abused, and it's based on good faith from both sides. You trust us when purchasing one of our collections, so we offer you a refund policy for non transferable items. Keep in mind that our items are not transferable, so yes you get refunded and you get an item for free. REFUND POLICY FAQ Q: What reasons are valid to ask for a refund ? Mainly the reasons any demo could have prevented you from buying the outfit. For example, the mesh items does not work with your mesh body. Or for example, you don't like how it looks like on your avatar, or you don't like the colors the hud includes or you don't like how the outfit looks like one you wear it. In summary: size problems with mesh bodies & insatisfaction with the item that could have been solved using a demo. Q: What if I make a mistake thinking I could use fitmesh with the standard avatar, for example ? Would you refund me the outfit ? Or if I buy the items thinking it's transferable but it is not? As We said this is a policy based on good faith. I will not refund any items if the customer does not read properly the instructions or don't understand how Second Life works, however, nothing prevents the customer from saying that he doesn't like the colors of the hud for example. I will not ask questions about that. Q: How many times can I ask for a refund ? As I said this policy is based on good faith, not in numbers. If I feel I'm being scammed I will refuse to refund the outfit. As a general rule, new customers can ask for refund once or twice. I would also expect customers to purchase 2 or 3 outfits before asking for another refund. I prefer not to base the refunds on fixed numbers. Q: Can I buy 10 outfits and ask for a refund of the 10 outfits? No. You can't. This policy is based on good faith. If you like 10 outfits but you are unsure, just buy one or two first to check our quality. If you don't like the quality then you can ask for a refund. But I will not refund a huge purchase. If you buy 10 outfits, but you feel 1 or 2 of these items doesn't have the quality you would expect from V-Twins or you have an issue with the size etc. ( anything that could have been prevented by using a demo) you can ask for refund of that item in particular. Q: What if I wait more than 48 hours to ask for a refund ? I will probably decline the refund. 48 hours is enough time. Q: Can I get a refund for Boots that I purchased? This policy applies only to fitmesh Outfits. V-Twins boots are sold by Chaplin Tomorrow. If you think you are elegible for a refund, feel free to contact Chaplin Tomorrow and ask for a refund. However, keep in mind that this policy does not apply to his items and any refund will be handled at our discretion. Q: How do I ask for the refund? The title suggests that all the information included is good news, but that's not the case. That's what bother me most, because if you want to be transparent, there is no need for this tricky headline. This is not a price change, this is a price increase for most residents. These are the upcoming changes: Region Owners Regions owners will see prices reduced for standard regions in 20$ monthly. This also includes grandfathered regions. Premium Members Premium members will see their subscription increased about a 30% depending on the perk. Premium accounts will also receive the standar perks and gifts, like linden homes, plus a few vague promises from Linden that nobody knows when or how. Today premium accounts also enjoy 1024sqm plot of free land in Mainland. There was also a tier reduction price a few months ago so it's obvious that Linden has actually cared for Premium members in the last year. However, this premium subscription increase basically kills all the benefits that they had received a few months ago. In case you have a peeve and decide to unsubscribe thinking that your decision will affect Linden's perception of the situation, I also have bad news for you. With this increase, Linden would be making the same money even if a 30% of premium members unsuscribed. So, unless there is an actual earthquake all over the grid and 40% of premiums downgrade, any rant will be pointless. Moreover, Linden has offered to extend the subscription for the same price another term. Anyone can renew their subscription for 72$ annually and stay premium during that time. This is not a coincidence or the result of customer care, this is a common practice in marketing where you want to stop the first revolt by pacifing and seducing your customers with a bait. I'm not against it, I think it's logical but they don't fool me. Originally Linden wanted to reduce the amount of groups a free account could join, from 42 to 30. However, after a few residents threw a fit last week saying that this would not only harm free accounts, but also merchants that need customers in their groups, Linden backpedaled and decided to keep features more or less the same. This is the final resolution: I can extract 2 conclusions from this decision. First, Linden wants to punish free accounts one way or the other to make premium look more appealing, therefore sooner or later they will come out with something to punish free accounts. It could be a more expensive fee for buying lindens or selling them or marketplace commission or anything they consider could be attractive for residents to step forward for membership. Second conclusion is that Linden has not learnt the lesson yet about merchants. They don't' understand the internal and sometimes complex relationships between small merchants, bigger merchants and their customers. They didn't realize, nor anticipated, that by harming a segment of their residents, they would also change the balance in other scenarios. For merchants this is something obvious, it's the first page of the playbook, but not for Linden. Pushing free residents to be selective with groups will reduce groups like V-Twins. Free residents could decide that only groups that give away prices or send gifts are worth joining in: thus changing the balance of groups in Second Life. Another Nail in the Merchant's Coffin However the worst part of this policy for merchants is this one: They are doubling the cost of cashing money to our real lives. Yes as much as a minimum of 100% without any limitations. This means that a fortunate merchant that could save 2000$ in the past, he or she could withdraw their dollars for 23$ ( that was the limit if I'm not mistaken ) From june 24th, a merchant with 2000$ will lose 100$. Yes, you read it just correct. Honestly, this is not a big deal, because only a few merchants can easily achieve that amount of money. The more common amounts go from 200$ to 500$. In the past, 200$ withdrawal would cost about 3$, but from June 24th, it will cost 10$. My question is, how is it possible that paypal and bank fees and commissions have increased so much in the last years? as much as 400%!!! Really? For end consumers maybe, but not for big companies or corporations. I have to be clear, I do not trust anything Linden says about this issue whatsoever. It just makes no sense and I think it's poor excuse mixed with lies and greed. They want or need money and they will get a bigger cut from processing fees. Period. But this is not a pet peeve, I understand Linden's position, what I don't like is being fooled and that's how I feel. Final Thoughts I wouldn't be so pissed off if, for example, Linden would step forward and improve merchant's day by day. For me it makes sense that a company charges you more, but also gives you more in exchange, small things but helpful and cheap. For example, this is a list of perks for merchants that Linden could deal with: Better support for copyright violations of content A price rebate for uploading content. For example 5L$ instead of 10L$ A better stipend for inworld transactions. For paying inworld services like smartbots, group fees, classified fees etc. A special viewer for merchants with attention to textures and content. Classifieds for free in Mainland I'm aware these features wouldn't cover the increase, but they would prove that Linden is actually thinking of merchants and taking care of their needs. They would be taking more money from us, but at the same time they would be also improving our daily whereabouts inworld. I would applaud that. Right now, a merchant pays a commision of 5% if people buy from marketplace. They pay a commission when they exchange lindens to dollars and they also pay a fee when they withdraw those dollars to personal accounts like paypal. In my case, then I have to include as an expense VAT (for premium account) and lost value of converting dollars to euros (yes, paypal charges another fee). This is a process that can make me lose more than a 40% of real income when money finally arrives to my bank account. 👉 About 150$ transforms roughly in 95€. 😳 as a side note if I had to pay taxes in my country for this income, those 95€ would become 78€. One of the excuses that Linden usually makes to defend the value of their service has to do with not charging commissions per sales inworld. It's common to hear, "we are not charging you for selling inworld" and yes this is true, but also a propstrous argument. First of all, merchants provide support for their products and at the same time provide support for Second Life itself. When you help someone to resize an object or teach him how to wear 2 items in the same attachment point, you are not only helping your own business, you are also doing Linden's job. That time spent with a customer does not have real value converted into money; a part from the gratitude of the customer of course. Second, when a transaction fails and I have to redeliver a purchase, I'm doing Linden's job, it's not the merchant responsibility to redeliver items for the grid malfunction. But we do and we could say it's fair that you don't charge us for transactions inworld in exchange for customer service. This is a symbiotic relationship that Linden does not value at all and couldn't care less. Third, creating is not a free process whatsoever. It costs money either buying templates, uploading textures, uploading meshes, paying items on the marketplace ( with the 5% commission to Linden), plus tests and land to rezz and work. It's true that Linden's not taking a commission for each sale, but they get a cut in the process of creation any product for sale. The fact that they are not taking the amount of money per sale they would be willing to, doesn't mean they don't make any money at all or it's a free process. Creating content gives money to Linden. I'm not trying to complain or throwing fits against Lindens, that's not the case here. This is not the blog's entry objective. I only wanted you to understand that Lindens and Merchants have a very complex relationship that Linden does not value in those small details. Thus it's easy for them to use or see merchants as a punching bag, they see themselves as a hammer and we are nails. It's in their nature, they do not value or fully understand what we do for them and for us in Second Life. Not playing the victim either, I've been in Second Life for more than 12 years now, I take fully responsibility for staying here. This is how I see and how I've learnt to deal with Linden changes, the good and the bad ones. However this is not minor policy change in my opinion. I observe these upcoming changes as a very important threshold. I don't see how we (merchants) can ignore the increase of premium membership and processing fees right now and at this time. If we do, it's obvious that we will be showing weakness in front of Linden and we would prove we don't believe in our value as creators. Thus, the only solution to fix this unbalanced situation is to make drastic changes in my business model and do things I would have never considered in the past. My reasons are not based on greed or frustration, I just want to achieve a more fair and balanced situation. I guess most of my colleagues in Second Life will be thinking the same. Changing the price policy and rebuilding my marketing strategy will be a priority before June the 24th. And yes, this will have to do with rising prices and changing value to some assets.
